I just found out that AZN Television is going off the air April 9.2008. I have to say I am very sad to hear this.
I know… this is a blog about Africa and the occasional diatribe on the US Economy (and other things on occasion)…. but I have found several programs that I have enjoyed on this channel that I cannot find anywhere else.
The Korean Drama series such as Emperor of the Sea, Jewel of the Palace, and the most recent Dae Jo Young (136 ninety (90) minute episodes…lol ) have been almost inspiring with their portrayal of characters who sacrifice all for Love, Duty, Honor, Responsibility and Integrity. Their individual struggles and how they deal with adversity were truly remarkable. Of all the things I will miss the most, these Korean Dramas rank high on my list, even if they were in sub titles.
Other programs such as Luxury India with Jay Menon showed aspects of India not really shown elsewhere.
Other programs I occasionally watched were from various countries throughout Asia that showed culture and sights I did not know about , and deeper insights into things I have some knowledge of.
For me, the loss of this channel is a loss and something I will have a difficult time replacing… if I can at all.
So.. GOODBYE AZN… I have really enjoyed our time together and am sad to see you go. Hopefully there can be another that will take you place in the future as I believe you have given a greater depth to my life and my knowledge and respect for culture.
If anyone knows other places for me or my readers of this post to find the same programing on Comcast, or another subscriber service please say so in the comment section below.

For those of you who enjoyed Jay Menon on “luxury India” on AZN TV I have been told she hosts a radio program on MIX FM in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. This is in addition to her work as a TV Host and a Model. Sorry I have no other information on her now… but invite her to comment and let her fans know how to see her on other programs.

I can’t believed that AZNTV is going off air and I’m so glad I just finish watching the DaeJoyoung. I’m gonna missed these shows. Which you find a way to get back on the air and I will be waiting in the future. Thank you for these lovely shows.

I am also very sad to say good bye to AZNTV. I not only loved the historic serials, I also enjoyed the soap operas, the romances, the legends and warrior stories and even Music Bang. I would love to see a Global Greats TV Network. There are so many wonderful shows internationally that we miss here and it is such a great way to learn about other cultures and ideas.

I, too, will miss AZNTV. I loved watching the historical dramas and when reading the subtitles, it felt as if a book had come to life in front of your eyes.

I, too, cannot believe that AZN Television is taken away from the Comcast guideline. When I found out about this channel in the Summer of 2007, I was thinking, “Oh, goodie! That way I’ll see Japanese TV shows (soap operas, anime, and whatnot), there will be English subtitles, and I’ll know what the actors are saying.”
I said this because I love Japanese culture, music, food, everything. When I saw the Asian Excellence Awards, I thinking it would be trickin’ sweet if my favorite J-Pop singer, Utada Hikaru, would be there getting her award. Unfortunately, she wasn’t there and was probably on other AEA events that I didn’t see before the channel was taken off the air.
There’s only one word for why AZN Television was taken off the air: money. I heard that the company was having a hard time advertising stuff and things like that. Another thing I thought of this was that people in the state of Florida were discriminating (I should’ve said segregating) against Asian-Americans because of their culture, language, and such.
I’m sorry that my response is very long, but I have one more thing to say about this: Sayonara, AZN Television; hope your life is great in Broadcast Heaven.:-(

By the way, there should an “Asian Appreciation Month” in honor of AZN Television and the very great talents of Asain-Americans because it would be trickin’ sweet if people in America didn’t treat Asians (including the Japanese) like garbage. Instead, we should all accept them for who they are and just get to know them more often.
God Bless Asia. God Bless America.
