Aisha Tyler appears on ‘The View,’ husband Jeff Tietjens the talk of Internet (Videos)

Aisha Tyler and husband Jeff Tietjens are talk of the Internet
Aisha Tyler appeared on “The View” today, speaking with Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. And while it was reported in May that Tyler might receive her own ABC talk show, the big story today has been about Tyler’s husband, Jeff Tietjens.
Tyler, who has appeared on “Friends,” “24,” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is arguably best known to viewers from her stint as host of E!’s “Talk Soup.” And while Aisha Tyler has found a great deal of success in Hollywood, she has taken a large share of criticism, too.
Over at LaLate.com, there is a photo of Tyler’s husband, Jeff Tietjens. Tietjens, who is white, has received a lot of flack for dating and eventually marrying a black woman. Tyler has felt the stares and heard the rude comments, too, as she says:
“We had to ride the bus because we didn’t have a car and it was like the gauntlet every day. It was exhausting because we could not walk down the street without brothers yelling and catcalling lame, tired old lines like, ‘Once you go black, you never go back!’ or asking ‘Why are you with that white boy?’”
Tyler has always poked fun at her own blackness in her stand-up comedy. She makes it known she’s not from any tough streets, and in her most recent TV special, she dropped a rap titled “No A** At All,” where she admitted that she’s not as curvy as most African-American women.
Despite the negativity, Tyler enjoyed herself on “The View,” as her Twitter comments attest:
All the nice tweets abt the View are makn’ a girl cry! Thank u tweeps! I was so nervous! Thanks for making me feel better!
